London – time to leave

The last night in London was a lot of fun. It started with some drinks at the CitizenM hotel near the Tower of London. From there I meet up with a co-worker and some of his friends who live in London, had some fantastic local beer along with mouth watering food.  Took some photos on the Prime Meridian line in Greenwich, walked by a lady puking in the park and then ended up back at the hotel with other co-workers and a couple from Scotland. If you’ve never drank with a man from Scotland, you’ve never really drank. So much fun!

Some highlights:

Winston Churchill Museum

This was sooooo cool!  I could have spent an entire day here, but alas, didn’t have enough time.  If you are ever in London, I highly encourage visiting this museum.  I recommend going early in the morning, the lines were non-existent at that time. However when we exited, the lines were very long.

A few photos from the day

Les Misérables – London

Every time I’m in London, I have to go to at least one play.  This time I choose Les Miserables, and it did not disappoint!

Also, the snow followed me from Luxembourg to London, sigh. Ironically, we flew to  London to meet with partner teams, who now may not be able to make it to the office due to bad weather. HA! Comedy.

A few pictures below, a few more here: London – 1/31/19

More snow = more delays

We got more snow over night, which means our flight from Luxembourg to London is delayed. Right now its pushed back by an hour, but it seems to be increasing by 10 minutes periodically.  So far its gone from 35, 45, 55; so we’ll see where we end up.  Sigh.

On a positive note, I have no connecting flight today so the likelihood of losing my luggage is very small (I hope).

I do love the look of fresh snow…

Snow!!!

Woke up to beautiful slowly falling snow this morning, which made a bit of a mess of the roads and a good challenge for some taxi drivers.  Oh, there is no uber or lyft in Luxembourg, and there are not that many cabs. I’ve had to wait up to 30 minutes, but most of the time they come w/in 5 minutes or so.

Had a GREAT day talking with customers today, I love this part of my job.  However the down fall of being 8 hours difference then home is that its easy to work long hours.  Its currently 1:30 am here and I kind of lost track of time, chatting with people back home.  But don’t worry, I’ve found time to explore a little bit.  I can say for sure that there is some really good food here!

Enjoy the shots

I’m in Luxembourg, but…

The good news is, I’m finally in Luxembourg!!!  It’s dark, so I can’t see anything, but I’m here.  The bad news is, I don’t have my suitcase.  Sigh. I’ve filed a claim and hopefully it turns up tomorrow.  The past 24 hrs have been interesting.

No pictures yet. Too dark, and I’m too tired.  Sorry Tia!  I’ll take some pictures tomorrow, but now, its time to sleep.

Ty, thank you for recording yourself reading a book, I love it! It is helping me fall asleep.  🙂

Good night…

Stuck in Frankfurt

Yup, my flight from AMS to FRA got in late. How late? I missed my connection to LUX by 6 minutes… SIX MINUTES. So now I sit in this horribly depressing Frankfurt, Germany airport for 4 hours.  This is getting old, I’ve been traveling for almost 21 hours now and I’m still not to my destination. I might as well have gone to Australia or Tokyo.  Oh wait, thats next week.

This airport is very strange. No one talking, just kind of moving about in a comatose manor.

I now have my sweat pants pulled up to my knees, for added comfort and fashion.

Oh, and their beer sucks.

That is all for now. Time to find the Delta Sky Lounge…

Make it 16 airports…

My Delta flight got to Amsterdam late, in fact we landed just as my KLM LUX flight took off. So, now I’m booked on a Lufthansa flight from AMS to FRA (Frankfurt, Germany) and from there another flight from FRA to LUX.  So that brings my airport total to 16 airports in three weeks.  And, you guessed it, it appears my flight from AMS to FRA is delayed, however I ~should~ still make my connecting flight into LUX.  Flying Lufthansa brings back memories though. They were one of the first adopters of the airline software we built at Unisys. We built one of the first web-based seat selection solutions.  Man that seems like a lifetime ago.

Morale of the story, this has turned from being a frugal attempt into a frupid trip.  Book direct flights when possible.  However, through all of this, I’ve met some great people. That is the fun of traveling, hearing the stories (I’m sure some of them are true). I love hearing the different languages and dialects.

Alright, time to stand in another line.

P.S. The decision to wear sweat pants has turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made this year. Soooooo comfortable.  🙂
